Whether you are a new or returning client we are happy to offer consultations. These consultations allow us to assess the current state of your hair and evaluate your goals and come up with a plan of action accordingly. One of our unique services that does require a consultation are Sisterlocks.
Sisterlocks requires a consultation because there are many different techniques that can be used to achieve the same end result. Our experienced technicians will need to evaluate your hair type and test out a few of the techniques to see which will work best for you! Sisterlocks are a wonderful way to style your hair as they are less limiting, “style-able” locks. While they can be time consuming initially (12 hours on average), maintaining Sisterlocks is quite manageable. Since there is nothing to remove or re-set, tightening the regrowth of your hair is a simple process. The installation process consisters of 4 steps outlined below:
Pre-lock Phase: The pre-lock phase is often considered the “baby like” stage. During this phase you want to imagine Shirley Temple like curls that are soft and loose.
Budding Phase: During the budding phase you will start to notice buds develop about ¾ down the lock. This is often considered the “teenage” stage as the hair tends to have a mind of it’s own during the stage.
Shooting Phase: During the Shooting Phase the hair will start to increase in density as the hair starts to interlock and forms more matting.
Contracting Phase: At this point in the Contracting Phase the hair is completely interlocked and airtight. The hair should appear overall consistent and have manageable locks.
If you are considering Sisterlocks or need help finding the right fit for your hair type please feel free to reach out to our stylists anytime. We are happy to help.
